Pembroke, ON indie rockers Gatlin Black just released their "Modern Spirit" EP and to celebrate we asked frontman Jake Weckwerth to tell us about the song "River Of Doubt". Here is the story:
It speaks to the moments in life when people around you have written you off or stopped believing in what you're capable of. The "River of Doubt" represents that current of negativity and skepticism that can surround you, whether it comes from people you thought were your friends, concerned family members, or your own inner voice.
Instead of being victim to the undertow, the song is about pushing forward through that endless current and proving-to yourself most of all, that you're stronger than the doubts placed on you.
Ultimately, it stands as a reminder that even when belief from others fades, the determination to keep going can still carry you somewhere better.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself here and learn more here
