Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts have announced a May 29th release of their live album "as time explodes" on black vinyl, CD and digital editions, following the Limited Edition double clear vinyl set that was released for this year's Record Store Day.
Reprise Records shared these details: In the long life of rock music, Neil Young has been able to explore different styles to his own vision. During his early musical start in Canada as a teenager, through a move to California in the mid-Sixties to today, six solid decades later, there has only been an unending drive to write songs that are written directly from the soul and performed with pure passion. He is someone who looks within and reflects all he sees and feels. With his band The Chrome Hearts, he continues this expressive excursion recorded in Europe, U.K., U.S. and Canada during The Love Earth Tour 2025.
The music on their new live album - as time explodes, one which captures all of the abilities they've found playing together and responding to the songs and each other.
as time explodes explores the history of Young's songs from his entire catalog. It's a journey through time in the modern age. And by freeing themselves from the past, they can perform some of the most exciting songs of a storied history, always showing how the present sounds, redefining the past and presenting it in the here and now.
Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts without a doubt an aggregation for the ages. With Spooner Oldham (keyboards), Micah Nelson (guitar, Stringman & vocals), Corey McCormick (bass and vocals) and Anthony LoGerfo (drums & vocals) and Young (amp, guitar, pump organ, piano and vocals) this band goes into that sublime space shared with each of Young's groups that have become part of the evolution of rock & roll.
When they're tearing into the evolution of time with songs like "Harvest Moon," "Ohio" or "Cortez the Killer," offering new thrills to "Like a Hurricane" or "After the Gold Rush" or completely showing modernity's splitting apart on "Big Crime," Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts have captured what it means to turn music into a universally shared emotional experience. This is what drives Young forward.
The songs featured on as time explodes are timeless and powerful, never more so than in a live, concert setting. The album was produced by Lou Adler with The Volume Dealers (Neil Young and Niko Bolas).
