NorthFolk, the Tuolumne, California band known for their country grit meets modern rock sound, just released a music video for their brand new single "I'll Be Fine" and to celebrate we asked Jaden Brocchini to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
"I'll Be Fine" stemmed from a variety of different relationship situations that I had experienced myself and seen through the people around me growing up in a small town. Where we're from, everybody knows everybody's business, and when there aren't a ton of options, people tend to stay in toxic situations longer than they should. A lot of people would rather hold onto security than face being alone.
The longer you push things off, the more tension builds, and eventually it all comes apart. Over time, you realize that freeing yourself from that situation is the only way you're ever going to be happy. This song is that over-the-edge moment of finally letting go and saying, "I'll be fine alone."
The song actually started as a slow acoustic idea with a sad emotional feel to it. Once the band started working on it, it evolved into an intense, angsty rock song. Everybody brought their own energy into it, and it became way bigger than the original idea. It's got those dissonant guitar bends, heavy half-time sections, and big emotional dynamics that really drive home that tense "I'll Be Fine" feeling.
Recording it in Nashville was a huge experience for us that took the song to another level sonically. Our producer helped us capture NorthFork's energy while putting that extra polish and edge on it. At the end of the day, it just feels like us putting real life into loud guitars.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
