"DOOM TRAP" star Mimi Barks recently her new single and video "Jericho," from her upcoming EP "Dreamstate of Fear" (out July 24th). To celebrate, we asked her to tell us about the song. Here is the story:
Jericho sits in that space between collapse and release, what looks like destruction at first is actually an undoing of everything that was never truly mine. There's no real enemy unless you choose to become one to yourself. The shift happens when the self remembers itself, when the energy turns inward and transforms. The old world dissolves, making space for something unknown. That's where freedom begins.
We shot the video in Paris and Bordeaux last winter with the brother 99qvxn. It was three days straight of breaking into warehouses, wandering through dark parks and alleyways, barely sleeping. I was getting changed inside this abandoned warehouse in December, stepping in and out of a 15kg chain dress that left choke marks across my skin by the end of the shoot. I also learned how to make grills from IznoGrillz during that time and you'll see the result running throughout the video.
At its core this release is about breaking the world you know and stepping into something unknown. Taking the risk, following intuition that gut feeling that pulls you somewhere deeper. Destroying every stereotype, limitation and conditioned negative self belief. You can recreate your reality at any moment, the past doesn't have to define what comes next. When you're fully present, stripped of everything unnecessary you're left with a choice. Heaven or Hell?
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself below and learn more here
