Singled Out: Katerina Nicole's Left Behind

Hard rocker Katerina Nicole recently unleashed her new single and video "Left Behind" and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

"Left Behind" is a song about the moment you realize you have to keep your tunnel vision on in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. I wanted the song to capture that complicated space between guilt, desire, and finally accepting that sometimes moving forward means leaving something - or someone - behind. It's energetic and heavy, but there's a very emotional core underneath it. I chose "Left Behind" as a single because it felt like one of the most immediate and honest representations of where I am as an artist right now. There's something cathartic about screaming through that feeling rather than trying to make it sound pretty.

The artwork and video were created to live in that same world. I wanted the visuals to feel raw, isolated, and almost cinematic, with the desert landscape representing that feeling of being completely alone with your thoughts while still finding the strength to keep moving. There's a contrast between the beauty of the environment and the heaviness of what the song is about, which is something I really love visually. The video was built around that idea of confronting what you've lost instead of running from it, and ultimately realizing that being left behind doesn't mean you have to stay there.

For me, "Left Behind" is ultimately about reclaiming your own momentum. Sometimes the people, relationships, or versions of yourself that you thought would be permanent simply aren't. That can hurt like hell, but it can also become the exact thing that pushes you into the next chapter. I wanted listeners to be able to hear themselves somewhere in that - whether they're grieving someone, walking away from something toxic, or simply realizing they've outgrown the life they were living. "Left Behind" is that moment of turning around, seeing what's behind you, and deciding to keep going anyway.
