"thirteen again" is the emotional climax of my new EP, dopamine rush. years of heartbreak, disappointment, and growing cynicism about love, she suddenly finds herself consumed by a crush that feels embarrassingly intense. Within days she's staying up all night texting, listening to mixtapes, doodling hearts, and feeling exactly the way she did when she was thirteen years old.

On the surface, the song is about the exhilaration of a new crush. Beneath that, it's about the return of a fantasy the narrator thought she'd outgrown. As a lonely and romantic teenager, she believed there was someone out there who would finally understand her, choose her, and make her feel less alone in the world.
