Singled Out: SINA MATIX's Killing The Curse

SINA MATIX recently released their single and video called "Killing The Curse" and to celebrate we asked SINA to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

I wanted to get personal with my very own story of what happens when you just can't take it anymore and have to make the hardest decision of your life.

The first 4 notes of the song were actually inspired by House of Pain's "Jump Around". I always loved how dramatic it sounded and how easily you can recognize the song within the first 5 seconds. Then it goes into a very hard hitting beat without wasting any time. This is followed by lyrics that tell the story. To understand the whole story, we must first go back and understand previous releases I had. My first EP was called "Cursed" and it was about me moving to Florida and how the first 2 years were some of the most difficult times in my life. Earlier this year, I put out an EP called " A Dark Place" that had extremely disturbing sounds and lyrics. It was based on my life in early 2026 and how I almost didn't make it. Fast forward to now, "Killing The Curse" is about how I am rebooting my life after 5 years by ridding myself of the toxins and moving out of the state.

There is also an accompanying music video for "Killing The Curse" that can be found on my Youtube channel. I filmed all of it on my iPhone. I went out to some woods next to my house and ran around like a crazy person while singing lyrics. After that, I edited the video to look very grainy and almost give it a snuff film-like feel. The very end of the video represents leaving the "Cursed" life I had behind.
