(BMA) Canadian-born, Nashville-bred rising country star Drew Taylor has shared his rendition of acclaimed pop-punk band Faber Drive's "You and I Tonight." The track features a duet with original songwriter Dave Faber.
The accompanying music video stars Taylor and his wife, bringing authentic relationship dynamics to the screen. Taylor imparts, "'You and I Tonight' is a reimagining of the beloved Canadian radio favorite, transformed into a warm, modern country song. It tells the story of two people choosing to freeze time for one perfect night together, where love feels bigger than fear, doubt, or tomorrow."
Having recently signed to independent record label T&L Records Nashville - and with a string of chart-topping hits and streaming success already to his name, including his recent single "MAKERS": - the artist-to-watch has been paving his road to stardom one song at a time.
Born in Waterloo, Ontario, Drew's foray into music was anything but conventional, as a kid in Canada with dreams of The Music City. The foundation was there; his father was a musician who played alongside Country legends like George Strait and Kenny Rogers. Meanwhile, back home, he was fronting a Screamo band, sharing bills with the likes of Underoath and Atreyu. Eventually doubling duties as a fireman and entrepreneur, his love of music came back around to where he could no longer make it a side hustle. He was going to make it as a singer/songwriter, one way or another.
Over the years, the Nashville riser has stacked consistent wins. In 2022, he was the Wildcard Winner for the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase that year (presented by Coors Original Canada and Universal Music Canada), performing on the Front Porch stage. A year later, his single "Wish I Didn't" hit #1 on Sirius XM's Top of the Country. At the top of 2025, his single "Nobody I Know" reached an indie fever pitch, cracking over 250,000 streams on Spotify alone.
Other tracks like "Music To My Beers" and his latest "Get The Truck Outta Here," continue a steady climb, fueled by Drew's knack for clever lyrics amidst modern Country production-the former added to the Music Row Country Breakout Chart, where much of his music has found a home. He's shared stages with the likes of Tanya Tucker, Kane Brown, Paul Brandt, and most recently touring with Cory Marks. The stage is now set for Drew Taylor to become a headlining name in the new era of Country music.
With over a decade of artistry, the north-of-the-border songsmith has connected deeply with fans who see their lives mirrored in his lyrics. However, it's never really been about chasing the awards or even the industry politics. It's about resonating with the people who are listening. "If a song touches somebody, then I've done my job," he explains. That mission drives every chord that he plays.
Drew Taylor proves he's more than just a rising star; he's a reminder that Country music's future is being built by those willing to honor its incredible past while seamlessly bending its edges.
