(SMN) Today marks the highly awaited release of Cloud 9 - the globally anticipated new album from Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records singer/songwriter Megan Moroney.
A 15-song stunner defined by her most self-assured songwriting yet, Cloud 9 features the previously released "6 Months Later" (a GOLD-certified Country radio No. 1 smash), "Beautiful Things" (a Billboard Hot 100-charting Country radio hit), "Wish I Didn't" (a fierce but feel-good anthem hailed by Holler as a "fantastic, infectious country-pop earworm"), and its album-opening title track (a gravity-defying reverie that MusicRow deemed "a lilting, lovely watercolor of romantic bliss"). With guest spots from global superstar Ed Sheeran (on "I Only Miss You") and Country luminary Kacey Musgraves (on "Bells & Whistles"), the album's standouts also include her viral hit "Wedding Dress" (a longtime fan favorite since Moroney first shared the song on social media), and "Medicine," one of Cloud 9's most fearless and fiery tracks - with each of the album's 15 songs accompanied by its own lyric video.
Celebrating Cloud 9's release directly with her fans, Moroney kicks off "9 Cities. 9 Days." today in New York City. The Country sensation will make exclusive appearances in a total of nine cities across the U.S. and perform a handful of songs at each stop. Giving emo cowgirls and cowboys the ultra-rare opportunity to connect with Moroney in more intimate venues, "9 Cities. 9 Days." will wrap up on February 28 in Scottsdale, AZ.
During her whirlwind release week, Moroney was also honored at the second annual Sharing the Spotlight event from She Is The Music (on 2/18), an organization co-founded by global superstar Alicia Keys and dedicated to increasing the number of women working in music. As this year's Artist Spotlight honoree, Moroney was recognized for her chart-topping success, the gender-balanced approach she brings to every collaboration, and her deep commitment to working with diverse, female-led teams.
A top pick on high-profile lists from Rolling Stone ("Here Are the Albums We Can't Wait to Hear in 2026"), The New York Times ("7 Albums I'm Looking Forward to in 2026"), Esquire ("15 Most Anticipated Albums of 2026"), and more, Cloud 9 is Moroney's first studio album since 2024's GOLD-certified Am I Okay? - an era-defining LP that marked the year's third-biggest Billboard 200 debut from a female Country artist and paved the way for countless headline-making milestones (including earning Variety's Hitmakers Storyteller of the Year prize, Billboard's Rulebreaker Award, and the Country Artist-Songwriter of the Year honor at Billboard and the National Music Publishers Association's Songwriter Awards). As she steps into the next phase of her meteoric career, Moroney reveals a generational talent in full command of her story, her sound, and her unstoppable staying power.
Showcasing the full spectrum of her personality like never before, Cloud 9 brings an extra dose of spitfire humor to songs like "Medicine" - a playful but pointed honky-tonk anthem written by Moroney, Connie Harrington, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jessi Alexander. In a brilliant display of poetic justice, Moroney mirrors an ex's unsavory behavior with no remorse (the opening lines: "Ain't heard from you in three long days / You won't hear from me for five / Oh, you gave your number to an L.A. blonde? / Well, I gave a quarterback mine"). While she hints at her past heartbreak (e.g., "You should try crying in the shower, it's really great"), "Medicine" ultimately arrives as a wildly cathartic tribute to taking back your power and trading sorrow for self-worth.
In addition to the LP's digital version, Cloud 9 is available in three vinyl variants: Megan's Signature Pink - Standard, Tiger Cloud - BTS Edition, and Songwriter's Edition (a recently announced variant with the album's tracklist sequenced in chronological order according to when each song was written, featuring exclusive cover art on a gatefold jacket with a special insert on Purple Cloud vinyl).
