(Warner) Rising country singer-songwriter Wesko returns with a brand new single entitled "Lies" out today via Warner Records/underscore works recordings. It notably marks his first release of 2026, and it heralds the arrival of more music very soon.
Accompanied by bare acoustic guitar and sparse slide, Wesko paints a portrait of true love from a raw palette. The song unfolds with the honesty of a handwritten letter as he assures, "You see the lies that we both told, the secrets we both hold, you don't have to say a word 'cause I already know." His vocals ring out over the twang of sharply picked notes. Finally, he makes an eternal promise during the emotionally charged bridge, "I'll climb back up at that hill...Every Jack needs his Jill." As a whole, the song zooms into the complexities and nuances of a real relationship.
Wesko explains, "Love is hard to deny, even if you botch it the first time. 'Lies' is my retelling of such a classic love story, centering on "Jack and Jill." They both come up, and only one comes down but neither of them forget. All they can do is tell "lies" about how they really feel."
"Lies" clearly highlights the hard-learned truths and plainspoken wisdom of his songwriting. He's the kind of lyricist who cuts to the core with just a few words, holding nothing back and sharing relatable stories rooted in the reality of the working class American experience.
He kicks off the summer with a performance during CMA Fest on June 7 at the Good Molecules Reverb Stage (3:30pm - 3:55pm).
He capped off 2025 with the HOLD ON EP. The standout "Pretend" has amassed nearly 1 million total streams so far.
Last year, Wesko also released a pair of tracks which became immediate fan-favorites; "Mr. Tennessee," and "Use Some Carolina," claiming real estate on Spotify playlists such as "Next From Nashville." Holler Country described him this way: "If Megan Moroney is the self-styled "Emo Cowgirl" then Wesko, hailing from Kenansville, NC, might just be her cowboy counterpart."
