Scotty McCreery Gets Retrospective With '15'

(TPR) Scotty McCreery announces the upcoming release of 15 - a retrospective album featuring nine of his hit songs and four new recordings. The capsule collection will be released on vinyl, CD, and digitally on July 17 in recognition of McCreery's 15th anniversary as a recording artist. The album is available for pre-order now, with autographed vinyl and CDs available at McCreery's online store at ScottyMcCreery.com and at Talk Shop Live.

"Man, fifteen years goes by like a flash," muses McCreery. "Some days it feels like yesterday when I did my initial 'American Idol' audition in Milwaukee, while other days it feels like it happened a hundred years ago. I've lived a lot of life, traveled millions of miles, and followed my dreams, all thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my family, my team, and all the fans who have supported me through these 15 years."

The now 32-year-old husband and father of two sons has spent nearly half his life in the public eye. Music fans first met him as a 16-year-old high school junior when he auditioned for "American Idol" in front of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler by acapella singing the Josh Turner hit "Your Man."

In a full circle moment paying homage to that life-changing experience, McCreery has teamed up with his musical hero and friend, Turner, to re-record "Your Man" for 15. Fifteen years ago today (May 14, 2011) Turner surprised the young singer during his "American Idol" hometown concert in Garner, North Carolina in front of more than 30,000 fans - quite a feat with the town's population only being 28,000 at the time.

McCreery's version of "Your Man" featuring Turner will be released TONIGHT digitally at 12:00 AM ET/Midnight on all DSPs. Pre-save here

"I have been a major Josh Turner fan since 'Long Black Train' was released," said McCreery. "Getting to know him has been something little Scotty would never have imagined and having the honor of recording 'Your Man' with him is a moment I'll never get over. If I was him, I would have been a little irritated that this teenage kid kept singing my songs on TV....but Josh has been nothing but gracious and kind to me from day one, and he even inducted me into the Grand Ole Opry a few years ago. They say you should never meet your heroes but that certainly does not apply here. He's become a mentor and valued friend."

"I'm very honored to have been asked to sing on my song, 'Your Man,' on Scotty's new project," said Turner. "He came on the scene singing that song and has had a great career ever since. Of course, I take credit for all of his success! :-) Congrats to Scotty on 15 years! It's no small feat."

Coincidentally, Turner's album Your Man which featured his original version of the title song is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

15 contains McCreery's seven No.1 hits, including his most recent smash "Bottle Rockets" featuring Hootie & The Blowfish that was recently certified Platinum by the RIAA and was also his first No.1 hit in Canada. The vinyl and CD versions of 15 are the first time that "Bottle Rockets" has been made available on a physical product. The other No.1 hits include "Five More Minutes" (which inspired two Hallmark holiday movies), "This Is It," "In Between," "You Time," "Damn Strait," and "Cab in a Solo." The album also features his wife Gabi's favorite song "It Matters to Her," which reached No. 2 on the charts.

Vinyl and CD versions of 15 will also include McCreery's first Top Ten hit "See You Tonight" from the album of the same name - released during his time with Mercury Records Nashville.

In addition to "Your Man" with Turner, the three additional new cuts are "Hello Darlin'," McCreery's version of the Conway Twitty hit which he often sings in concert and has become an audience favorite through the years; "Why Me, Lord?" the classic Kris Kristofferson song which sums up how he feels about the last 15 years; and "Been a Good Run," a new track written by McCreery, Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell, and Derek George, which evokes nostalgia as he reflects on his life and career.

The North Carolina native has captivated fans worldwide since he auditioned for "American Idol" as a 16-year-old grocery bagger. He won the competition and America's hearts at age 17, and a few months later made history when he became the first country artist and youngest male artist of any genre to debut his first album (Clear as Day) at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 all-genre album chart. Since then, he has been living out his dreams - including the major milestone of being invited by Garth Brooks to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. During the past fifteen years, the ACM and CMT Award winner has performed on such renowned stages as Carnegie Hall (New York), O2 Arena (London), Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles), Ryman Auditorium (Nashville), Gruene Hall (New Braunfels, TX), and in all 50 U.S. states, as well as Canada, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the Philippines and the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland), as well as a television broadcast in Australia.
