(Head First Entertainment) Texas Hippie Coalition celebrates 25 years of taking names and kickin' asses. Now veterans in what frontman BIGDADRITCH likes to call the business of music, the band has decided to start their own record label after being with three others over the years. BIGDADRECORDS comes out of the gate with an immediacy: not one album this year but two bangers released simultaneously on September 11th.
The quintet's ninth album, Stoned Cowboys, is a further drift into their deep country roots with a heavy true outlaw country style. Turning up the twang on songs like "Last of the Outlaws" and upcoming single, "No Relations," which would make them old outlaw country men stand up salute and take a shot. "High in the Saddle" is so Texas Country it will leave cattle trail dust in your teeth.
The songs still have some fire and Nevada Romo plays that Tele like a bronco that got rode hard and put up wet while Rado Romo shows he was made for this style of music - what southerners call suited & booted. Drummer Joey Mandigo comes off like a breeding stud and newcomer guitarist Corban Vincent brings style and flare to the party like a rhinestone cowboy. Don't let the glitter and glamour fool you, this Red Headed Step Child lays down the law on his debut outing with the band. Living legend, the big myth himself, Big Dad Ritch has his saga continue as his voice serenades, at times making women swoon and men hoot and holler, and delivers in spades, as only the Mouth of the South knows how to. Surely outlaw men of the past would receive him well into their lawless men's club.
Next out of the gate, the fiery Band of Outlaws, (the tenth release in their canon) is their heaviest and most powerful yet. First single, "Just Like Johnny Cash" was released towards the end of 2025 as a teaser for the upcoming full length and instantly became a fan favorite, showing that ten albums in, the Hippies can still deliver. Songs such as "Burning it Down" and "Stomping Mudholes" prove that THC still has the heavy down to a science, while "Lone Star State Line" and "Keep it Nasty" show immediately that this record is pure Texas Hippie Coalition as you've always known them. The new single and title track, "Band of Outlaws" is the party that leads to ball room brawls.. This is the southern fried Texas red dirt metal you've come to expect from the band and like good bourbon, it's only getting better with age.
On Band of Outlaws, your master of ceremonies, Big Dad Ritch lets loose with a vocal power performance rarely seen as his voice visits both the fiery depths of hell and holy heavens high throughout the album. Corban Vincent compels his six string to squeal like a pig, making you feel sorry for the Buddy Blaze signature guitar he's taking to task every night. Bass player Rado Romo commands the bass like he's a lion tamer and drummer Joey Mandigo hits his kit like it's kicked his cat. Axemaster Nevada Romo has become Clint Eastwood to Big Dad's John Wayne making sure both new albums are true to the THC spirit. Reaching new levels in not only his playing but his writing as well, Romo has become a star in his own right.
Whether we're talking Stoned Cowboys or Band of Outlaws, at twenty five years in, these Texans are still showing they have true horsepower and they are cowboyed up. Hold on tight, you're in for a hell of a ride.
