Hear Theo Lawrence's Bill Anderson Collaboration 'Today Is A Good Day'

(Warner) Theo Lawrence has returned with "Today Is A Good Day," a country-crooning new original penned alongside one of his heroes: Songwriters Hall of Fame member "Whispering" Bill Anderson.

A raw and riveting snapshot of "dragging heartaches around too long," it showcases the kind of storytelling that's earned Lawrence both his national TV and Grand Ole Opry debuts in recent months.

It's also brought fans like renowned multi-instrumentalist Chris Scruggs (Sierra Ferrell, Marty Stuart, Loretta Lynn), who produced the song, and Alison Krauss - who Lawrence has toured with from coast-to-coast this year, including three nights at the hallowed Ryman Auditorium coming up later in September.

"'Today Is A Good Day' is a song about feeling like it's the perfect time to do something bad," reflects Lawrence. "Pack up and leave before your heart is broken beyond repair. It was such a joy to get to write it with the help of one of my heroes, Bill Anderson."

Lawrence's 2026 accomplishments would be impressive for any country obsessive, but his story and background are what make them truly one-of-a-kind. Growing up in France, Lawrence was drawn to the music of classic American artists like Charlie Rich, Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Dan Penn and Lee Hazlewood. Now based in Austin, he blends those rich influences with his upbringing an ocean away to create a truly singular sound. Reverberating with "a sincerity you rarely hear today" (Western AF), the result is a world where French Riviera flourish meets the American motor lodge pool.

While he's in Nashville to make his Ryman debut, Lawrence will also play Paste Magazine's party at Ole Red (September 18 at 1:40PM), Skinny Dennis' Texas Takeover (September 19 at 12PM) and more to be announced soon. Additional fall tour dates with Alison Krauss will see him perform at legendary venues like Chicago's Ravinia Festival (September 12), and an Austin homecoming at the Moody Theater (September 24).
