Dan + Shay's 'Tequila' Officially Certified Diamond

10-23-2026

(WMN) 3x Grammy Award-winning and current CMA Duo of the Year nominees Dan + Shay have officially achieved RIAA Diamond certification for their global hit single "Tequila."

One of the most prestigious milestones in the music industry, "Tequila" has now been awarded Diamond certification in the United States and Canada to become one of the few country singles in history to have reached 10 million equivalents sold in both North American territories.

Dan + Shay are only the second duo in country music history to join the Diamond club and the fourth multi-member Country act overall. Across all musical genres, fewer than 10 permanent duos in history have achieved a RIAA Diamond single. Fewer than 15 songs reached the tremendous achievement this year, putting Dan + Shay in the same company as Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey, Zach Bryan, and Kacey Musgraves.

Written by Dan Smyers alongside Nicolle Galyon and Jordan Reynolds, the poignant track served as the lead single from the duo's Multi-Platinum selling, chart-topping, self-titled third studio album, Dan + Shay. The song captured national attention, reaching the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts while making significant cross-genre inroads on pop and adult contemporary radio formats.

The accompanying music video, filmed against the snowy backdrop of Breckenridge, Colorado and starring model and activist Nyle DiMarco, earned widespread praise for its inclusive storytelling and visual scale, driving millions of additional streams worldwide.

Dan + Shay continue their momentum as they perform to sold-out arenas across the country on The Young Tour while their current single "Say So" rapidly approaches Top 5 at country radio.
