(CCM) Americana duo Wooten Hill (Kim Hill and Paulette Wooten) releases their first full-length album, "How Did We Get Here," via Parker & Yon Records. The 12-song collection was recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Wooten Hill and Grammy winner Charles Yingling, who also engineered the project. It is available now on all digital platforms here.
Written by Hill and Wooten, "Rise" features guest vocals from Vicki Hampton, Robert Bailey, Kim Keyes, and Shelly Fairchild. "Rise' isn't about telling someone else what their truth has to be. It's an invitation to listen for the truth inside yourself-the voice asking the questions you may have been afraid to ask-and to give yourself permission to follow where those questions lead," said Kim Hill. "Having Vicki, Robert, Kim, and Shelly add their voices made that invitation feel even bigger. What begins as our story becomes a chorus of voices. 'Rise' is an anthem for that moment: when something inside you knows there is more to the story, and you finally let it come up and out."
Wooten Hill also appears today on For The Love the podcast hosted by New York Times best-selling author Jen Hatmaker, where they talk about leaving behind the world that shaped them as part of her "Courage to Change: Do It Scared" series."Gold Stars," a song co-written with Hatmaker, is featured on the new album.
Ahead of the release, The Country Note's "Getting to Know" feature traced the duo's path from solo artists to Americana partners. Reflecting on her mentor, musician Don Potter, Wooten told the outlet, "In a lot of ways, "How Did We Get Here" is everything Don taught me about music meeting everything life has taught me about myself."
