(IC) Texas rap world-builder Yakiyn celebrates his unpredictable rise with "GET THE LOOT," an ice cold trunk-rattler thick with Southern bass. The Dallas-bred wildcard goes hard on the new single, laying down boast after boast while flexing his stylistic freedom with maximum ease and confidence.
Produced by fellow Texans SADER (Doechii, Tay Money) and Condo (LUCKI, B.U.G. Antman), "GET THE LOOT" crashes out the gate with sharp turntable stabs, snapping drums, and rumbling low end. Yakiyn skates over the grinding beat, slipping in and out of the rhythm while modulating his tone and leaving hypnotic couplets in his wake: "This the lifestyle that I live, man this sh*t done chose me / Ain't no motion over there, your sh*t don't pop like cold grease."
"I get the loot, but what I really got was freedom," says Yakiyn. "This song is for everybody who kept going when quitting made more sense. From pressure to progress. From dreams to reality."
The "GET THE LOOT" video - directed by frequent collaborator Cordell Jomha (Don Toliver, ScHoolboy Q) - matches Yakiyn's energy, centering the artist in a series of scenes that split the difference between smartly designed and organically stylish. Continuing a tradition, the visual ends with a teaser for an as-yet unreleased Yakiyn song.
Yakiyn entered 2026 with the wind at his back after releasing a handful of vibrant, utterly unique singles that culminated in the Dallas Mavericks gifting him a custom Lonestar Yak NBA jersey while blasting his single "SPREAD LIKE BUTTA" over the arena soundsystem. That's after the swaggering cut picked up cosigns from VIBE, Complex ("Yakiyn came out swinging"), and SZA herself. He also brought the song to From the Block for a performance that oozes charisma.
More recently, Yakiyn dropped the chaotically booming "CALCULATE" (produced by BNYX®️ and Trey Kams), which sparked a full print feature in the Dallas Observer titled "Yakiyn Is the Future" and a heds carRADIO set performed from the backseat of a rolling 1999 BMW 323. All that follows his Fall single "PUT DEM BOYS TO SLEEP" - whose video features a dancing Leon Bridges - and Yakiyn's direct-to-fans SoundCoud releases "FEEL SO ALIVE" featuring FELIX! (of Van Buren Records), "TOP TIER," and his "RIP SOULJA SLIM FREESTYLE."
Yakiyn kicked off his current era last summer with explosive "BACKBOARD" featuring Kal Banx, best known as TDE's hit-making in-house producer (Yakiyn also appears on Kal's solo album RHODA). That track's intensity and shout-along hook inspired Dallas Observer to call the song "something you would hear in between NBA commercial breaks after a monstrous dunk." Meanwhile, Our Generation Music noted, "Yakiyn shows why he's an up-and-comer to watch."
It's all part of a flurry of activity around the emerging multihyphenate who has toured with Isaiah Rashad and Lexa Gates, been tapped to model in campaigns for TDE and Yeezy, and acted in Doechii's Denial Is a River sitcom skits alongside Earl Sweatshirt and Zack Fox. In 2024, Yakiyn also released his SAD BOI EP, including "YEA" featuring Rashad and Luke Bar$.
But we're just the start. Keep watching as Yakiyn pulls back the curtain on his full vision.
