(Nettwerk) Dark-alternative/electronic duo MISSIO releases "Dopamine Kisses" the latest single off their forthcoming album Love & Heartbreak out July 3rd via Nettwerk.
The track finds Matthew Brue and David Butler at their most intoxicating, wrapping a deeply human sentiment in shimmering layers of synth, propulsive bass, and raw, emotive vocals. "Dopamine Kisses" is an ode to being someone's light in the dark: the person who shows up when the world feels heavy and makes everything feel euphoric.
"In any relationship it can be the most beautiful thing to see the best in the other person. You love them so much that you can see their potential and what they're capable of. You see through their insecurities and vulnerabilities, and want them to be the best and most authentic version of themselves as they exist in the world. The challenge, however, is accepting them as they are and not attempting to change or fix them, that has to come from them. I've struggled with a savior complex throughout my life, thinking I'm capable of saving other people from themselves. The hard reality for me, though, is that I cannot change anyone but myself. I've learned time and time again that it is not my responsibility. What I am capable of, though, is walking beside them through their own struggles as they grow into the person that they want to be, not who I want them to be."
Catch MISSIO on the road this April for the remaining dates of The Hollow Crown Tour, where the duo will be bringing their commanding stage presence and pulsating synths, along with new music from Love & Heartbreak performed live for the first time. The band headlines alongside WesGhost and ThxSoMch, with support from The Haunt, Oxymorrons, and rosecoloredworld.
