(Audible Treats) Lupe Fiasco delivered a document of his live prowess earlier this year when he shared Lupe Fiasco x Nu Deco Ensemble Live From Miami Beach, a one-of-a-kind live album, featuring some of his most beloved music performed with the backing of a full orchestra.
Today, Lupe shares a video of that concert's performance of "Hip-Hop Saved My Life." A highlight from Lupe's classic 2007 album Lupe Fiasco's The Cool, "Hip-Hop Saved My Life" is a staple of Lupe's live sets, telling the story of an underground rapper's efforts to make it big.
Lupe performs with passion, sharing stage with Nu Deco ensemble, a Miami-based hybrid orchestra, as they bring the new arrangement of the classic cut to life. Lupe and Nu Deco plan to release a new video from the performance every week leading into the album's vinyl release on October 16th.
On January 17th, 2026, Grammy Award-winning hip-hop icon Lupe Fiasco joined Miami's Nu Deco Ensemble, a hybrid orchestra dedicated to reimagining a fresh vision of what an orchestra can accomplish in the 21st Century, for a special concert at Miami Bandshell. Invigorated by the backing of the 33-person full orchestra, led by conductor Jacomo Bairos, Lupe forcefully rhymes every word of career highlights like "Daydreamin'," "Kick, Push," and "Paris, Tokyo," emphasizing the musicality innate to Lupe's tongue-twisting bars. In addition, Lupe presents unique live versions of new hits, including "Samurai," from his critically acclaimed 2024 album of the same title, and "SOS," an outtake released for the first time on 2025's Samurai DX. The Nu Deco version of 2015's "Dots & Lines" (from Tetsuo & Youth) begins with a solo guitar exhibition from Aaron Lebos, while songs like "Daydreamin'" and thrilling closer "Superstar" benefit from the powerful pipes of backing vocalists Kelley Kessell and J Howard. The 9-track set is a scorcher, reaffirming Lupe's status as one of the most proficient and electrifying live performers in hip-hop today.
