Madonna & Charli XCX Announce 'Danceteria Afterhours'

09-21-2026

(Warner) Madonna and Charli XCX, two of music's most boundary pushing artists have joined forces on a distinctive new track, channeling the spirit of Madonna's origin- story hit single "Danceteria."

Produced by Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Stuart Price, the collaboration is a celebration of the fearless beginnings and influences that shaped each artist's singular paths. The collaboration follows Madonna and Charli's CLUB CONFESSIONS party with Saint Laurent during Paris Fashion Week, and a series of playful social media exchanges between the two artists that have since fueled speculation about a potential musical collaboration. "Danceteria Afterhours" will be available on Thursday, September 24th via Warner Records.

"Danceteria" is the latest single from Madonna's widely acclaimed No.1 album, Confessions II. Critics and listeners alike have particularly praised the album's deeply personal themes - exploring love, trauma, loss, betrayal and healing. At its core, Confessions II reinforces Madonna's enduring belief that dance music is far from superficial: the dance floor is a lifeline, a place for escapism, connection and survival. Variety hailed the record as "her best album in decades." Pitchfork declared Madonna is in "peak form" and calling the album a "genuinely vital addition to her canon." Rolling Stone highlighted the album's musical consistency, calling it "a 64-minute nonstop groove that flows like a perfect club DJ set."

Up next, Madonna is set to open the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday with her first performance at the show in 23 years. This will also mark her fifth performance at the VMAs - more than any other artist in the show's history. Madonna leads this year's field with a career high 13 nominations. Since opening the very first VMA ceremony, Madonna has delivered some of the show's most provocative, talked about performances and unforgettable moments which have helped define the VMAs.
