Ryan Peter Murphy To Make History With 'Christmas In New England'

(Warner) 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and vocal powerhouse Ryan Peter Murphy unveils his holiday single "Christmas in New England." After generating over half a billion social media views in the year leading up to his signing with Warner Records, the New England native is quickly emerging as Gen-Z's answer to the old-school crooner: a self-coined "Swooner."

"Christmas In New England" is the first taste of Ryan's debut solo album, also called Christmas In New England, due October 23 on Warner Records. Christmas In New England is a collection of all-original holiday tracks written, produced, engineered and mixed by Ryan and a team of his 3 best friends and musical collaborators.

"I wanted to create my version of the perfect classic Christmas album. It's been years since I've heard new Christmas music that gives you that feeling and I'm trying to touch on that with every song," states Ryan.

With brushed drums and a string-and-piano arrangement as crackly and inviting as a fireplace on a cold December night, "Christmas in New England" feels like an instant seasonal classic. As the lush instrumental swells, Ryan paints a heartwarming winter idyll, with lights reflecting off the snow as the holidays descend on a sleepy town. It's a love letter not just to the season, but also to his neck of the woods. "Though it's cold up north, she'll keep me warm, by the mistletoe in the kitchen," he sings. In his intimate croon, he imagines a future in the place that made him.

Building on Ryan's growing reputation for classic songcraft, "Christmas in New England" is the perfect introduction to his inaugural LP of the same name. A bold move that simply makes sense, Christmas in New England will mark the first time a major label, male solo artist has released a holiday album as his debut. The album, recorded with the FAMEs Macedonia Orchestra and featuring a The Boston City Singers children's choir on "I Know Santa Is Real," brings together a collection of original holiday songs. The full tracklist, which also includes his 2025 single "Santa Please," can be found below.

While still a student at Berklee College of Music, Ryan sang the national anthem for the Celtics at TD Garden and the Red Sox at Fenway Park. He's gone viral for singing at strangers from his window, and his Boston street performances earned him an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Earlier this year, Ryan played his first proper solo shows opening for Fitz and The Tantrums, where he covered Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" in between originals like his breakout 2025 single "In My Angel's Eyes," which has independently generated over 1 million streams on Spotify alone. In August, he made his Warner Records debut with the summer-extending slice of bossa nova-infused pop "Love Letters," demonstrating his clever pen in the process.

Ryan has carefully honed and cultivated his voice since his childhood in a suburb outside of New Haven, Connecticut. His talent brought him to Berklee, where he cut his teeth by busking on Boston's bustling Newbury Street and recording with fellow students. It's no wonder he's named his debut album after the place he was born and raised - as he gears up to release Christmas in New England, he's ready to welcome even more fans into his charming world.
