The 12-track collection, produced by five-time GRAMMY-winning producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Breaking Benjamin), includes the Top 40 Active Rock radio hit "In Deep" featuring Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd, a reinvention of "Silent Lucidity" featuring Queensrÿche legend Geoff Tate, and the singles "Always There" and "Scared To Death" as well as new focus track "True."
"A Grog Is Born is so apropos because I am The Grog in my new movie, Scared To Death," shares Deimer. "We had such a great time making this movie with an amazing ensemble cast including Lin Shaye from Insidious, There's Something About Mary, and Kingpin, and Bill Moseley from my favorite movie, The Devil's Reject. And then, what an honor for me to record with Josh Todd from Buckcherry for 'In Deep,' a song I wrote six years ago with Ben Trexel, and Geoff Tate for our new version of 'Silent Lucidity' for A Grog Is Born. I watched Geoff sing that song on MTV in 1992 with the orchestra and now he has become a friend and mentor. I can't thank him and his wife enough for all the love and support they've shown me over the last five years. I also did a cover of 'In The Air Tonight' because I love Phil Collins and that was one of my favorite songs when I was young. Phil is a remarkable artist, so how do you do it justice other than just make it rock the f*** out, and that's what we did. A Grog Is Born has some really kickass tunes that needed to be sung now that my vocals have improved. I'm singing in octaves I never thought I'd dream of singing ten years ago. This album is a total departure from my debut, And So It Begins..., and I hope everyone loves these killer songs as much as we do. And Chris Lord-Alge, I love you, man!"
A Grog Is Born touches on everything from bruising hard rock to epic balladry, while overtly connecting Kurt Deimer The Singer and Kurt Deimer The Horror Star under The Grog moniker, the scene-stealing character he stars as in the new irreverent, high-voltage horror-comedy Scared To Death, available soon on demand on all major digital platforms across North America following its theatrical release in March. Deimer's role in Scared To Death - starring Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley and written and directed by Paul Boyd (Neon Trees, Dave Stewart, Shania Twain) - has been hailed as "bold and intense" and "the heart" of the film. Deimer's haunting single "Scared To Death" is a featured track in the film with its music video shot at Woodbury-Story House in Altadena, California, the same historic house that the film was shot at, watch below and stream the new album here.
