(Big Loud Rock) Los Angeles-based indie rockers Common People unpack the highs and lows of a relationship on fuzzy new single "Blue Eyes" - out now via Parallel Vision/Big Loud Rock.
Produced by Cage The Elephant's Brad Shultz, the hazy track captures the moment rose-colored glasses begin to crack in a relationship, with distorted basslines mirroring the steady unraveling of emotions. The accompanying music video finds the band experiencing the same emotional push-and-pull through a whimsical lens.
"Blue Eyes" is the song that kind of started this whole thing. It was our first time working with Brad and seeing what we could do together," shared lead vocalist Nicky Winegardner. "There's an innocence to the song that comes from where I was when I started writing it. Making sense of what love does to you and means to you feels like a shared experience of youth. It can feel good to realize that something is actually bad."
After receiving notable praise from the likes of Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, Flaunt Magazine, OnesToWatch, Atwood Magazine, Earmilk, and more, Common People released their debut EP, Games, earlier this Spring. Produced by Brad Shultz, the 6-track EP was first available to fans through limited vinyl copies available exclusively at their live shows.
After opening for Cage The Elephant and The Criticals in 2025, Common People kept their live show momentum going into 2026, making their festival debut at Innings Festival and supporting Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Congress The Band, and The Bends on their respective tours. Up next, the indie rock quintet will open for Young The Giant on select dates, as well as deliver electrifying festival sets at Bonnaroo's Outeroo, Minnesota Yacht Club, and Austin City Limits.
