(Earshot) After three decades of pushing the boundaries of melodic hardcore, Calgary's technical punk veterans Belvedere return with their seventh full-length album, Seven Years of Bad Luck, due out June 19 on Thousand Islands Records.
The 11-track release arrives on the heels of an intense stretch of global touring and signals a band still evolving-restless, sharp, and as urgent as ever. The album's second single, "Dormitory," is now streaming, offering another preview of the record's emotional and thematic core.
Of the track, frontman Steven Rawles says: "You accept that in a relationship, you take the bad with the good. But what happens when your communication breaks down and nothing helps the situation. Neither of you can love or accept love when your heart is in this "dormitory" or institutional state."
Formed over 30 years ago, Belvedere have built a reputation for blending breakneck technicality with melody and introspection. Seven Years of Bad Luck continues that legacy while pushing into new territory, balancing contrasts at every turn: melodic yet dissonant, melancholy yet hopeful, cryptic yet direct, and intense yet dynamic. It's a record that reflects both the band's history and their refusal to stand still.
