(PR) CKY today releases "Beware of the Heartless," a new single featuring a guitar solo recorded by the late Brent Hinds, former guitarist/vocalist and founding member of Mastodon and longtime friend of the band
The release comes as we approach the one-year anniversary of Hinds' passing on August 20, 2025. For CKY, the song represents an opportunity to share one more piece of music created with their friend rather than leave it sitting unheard.
"We were reminded that it was a year since our friend Brent passed away. Brent played a solo on a song we recorded called 'Beware of the Heartless' and I thought, 'why would I leave this on my computer?' Brent took the time to play on it and we loved him, and in honor of his passing, we were too bummed out in the moment to think about that sh*t, but I want to throw it out there because I don't want to hold onto it forever. I want to let go of it and give it to everyone." - Chad I Ginsburg
"Beware of the Heartless" marks the second CKY song to feature Hinds' guitar work. He previously contributed a solo to "Days of Self Destruction" from CKY's 2017 album The Phoenix.
The collaboration was part of a friendship that extended beyond the studio. CKY and Hinds' band, Fiend Without A Face, were scheduled to share the stage last fall, with Fiend Without A Face set to support CKY on a UK tour. The bands had been looking forward to finally touring together, but those plans ultimately never came to pass following Brent's tragic passing.
With "Beware of the Heartless," Brent's playing can once again be heard on a CKY song. Now, the band is letting this piece of music go as an everlasting tribute to the legend of Brent Hinds.
"Beware of the Heartless" is available today, August 14, 2026, on all major streaming platforms.
