Goo Goo Dolls' 'Iris' Given A Metal Makeover By Frozen Crown

10-01-2026

(ASPR) The release of their new album imminent, Frozen Crown go extra catchy with a cover of ''Iris'': Originally by American alternative rock band Goo Goo Dolls, this 1998 track became an international superhit.

Frozen Crown take its power and make it power metal, covering the entire spectrum from waltz-time ballad to high-speed drums and dual vocals from lead singer Giada ''Jade'' Etro and Federico Mondelli full of pathos. ''I just want you to know who I am'' should be a given thing hereafter!

The accompanying album, The Legend of the Six Kings, will be out tomorrow, October 2, 2026 via Napalm Records. Later this month, the band will embark on a tour supporting Beast in Black. Starting in London, they make their way through Europe and conclude their run four weeks later in Stockholm.

Giada ''Jade'' Etro about ''Iris'': ''As the last single before the album release, this video plays an important role documenting the amazing time we had during our first North American tour, supporting KAMELOT with VISIONS OF ATLANTIS. We played 'Iris' every night (together with the new album singles), and we were impressed by how strong the emotional impact was on the hundreds of people having these lyrics and this melody already cemented in their DNA. It was an amazing moment we were able to share together with old and new fans.''
