Wicked's 'Sunburn' Fuels New Film Nickels

(Chipster) Wicked has signed a licensing agreement with Briarcliff Entertainment for the use of their 2023 single, "Sunburn," in the drama/thriller NICKELS, released on October 2, 2026.

Directed by Spencer King, NICKELS explores themes of grief, faith, and reincarnation. WICKED's high-energy rock track "Sunburn" is featured on the film's soundtrack, and the band's vinyl record is integrated directly into the storyline as a key nostalgic element used by the characters to honor a late family member.

Band founders and brothers Chad Michael and Danny Martin attended the private cast and crew screening in Santa Monica, CA, on October 1, 2026, ahead of the film's theatrical and Amazon streaming release.

"It was such a surreal experience to be a part of a passion project with so many talented individuals in the film industry," said Chad Michael. "The movie was really something special, and getting to watch its private premiere with the team had us over the moon. It was so exciting to hear our song on the big screen and see the vinyl featured as well."

"We feel so honored to be a part of NICKELS," added Danny Martin. "The movie, written by Tim Tuchrello, is inspired by a true story, which made it extra special for us. It was an honor to see that story brought to life and to see the characters hold onto their loved one's memory through our song."

NICKELS stars Rob Riggle as Tom Monroe, a man confronting the tragic loss of his older brother decades prior. When a local teenager (Aaron Holliday) survives a similar accident, Tom begins to question if his brother's spirit has returned. The film also stars Bitsie Tulloch and Odessa A'zion.
