Opener, "The Mechanical Motion of Dying Stars," begins punk-y, but then goes into a more introspective, quieter, jazz-like section. With "Turnstile Intervention," Rodriguez creates a dark, foreboding instrumental dirge. It sounds a lot like some of the more instrumentally-minded acts from the 80s Goth movement that created songs where words were simply unnecessary. Lastly, "1st Assumptions vs. 2nd Doubts" is built upon a noisy, clunky groove. Rodriguez sings it like an angry man on fire. Much like the opener, "The Mechanical Motion of Dying Stars," Rodriguez replaces the opening fury with a sound a little less abrasive and a bit more approachable, before going back into his Gang Of Four-like musical anger. The track ends with an eerily quiet outro.
Rodriguez is one smart, angry man and Ghost Note Manifest is brief statement worthy of our attention.
